Emma Watson is reportedly skeptical about returning as Hermione Granger in the ninth installment in the Harry Potter franchise, which is an adaptation of The Cursed Child.
Harry Potter fans across the globe are quite excited, after the reports regarding the film adaptation of the much-loved theatre play Harry Potter and The Cursed Child. The project, which is being planned as the ninth film in the franchise, is expected to have an official launch very soon. However, the latest updates regarding the project have left the fans of the much-loved film franchise, disheartened. If the reports are to be believed, one of the leading stars of the franchise, Emma Watson - is unsure about returning to the franchise.
As per the reports published by Fandomwire, the makers of the project Warner Bros. are keen to bring back the original star cast, especially the leading trio - Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint, to reprise their respective roles, Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley, in the project. However, the grapevine suggests that Emma is 'skeptical' about returning to the franchise.
Emma Watson Didn't Like Life Much As A Harry Potter Childhood Star
According to insider Jeff Sneider who confirmed the reports, there are issues in getting some of the key actors back for the revival, especially Emma Watson. Furthermore, certain original cast members are unwilling to work with franchise creator J.K. Rowling, owing to her transphobic comments that created a massive controversy. Emma Watson is the toughest one to get back into this, particularly with everything that J.K. Rowling has said and stands for, revealed Sneider.
The Fandomwire reports also suggest Daniel Radcliffe, who played the titular character Harry Potter in all eight installments in the franchise, also shares the same thoughts as his co-star Emma Watson. Even though the actor has expressed his reluctance in playing the Chosen One in the ninth installment, owing to his ideological differences with creator JK Rowling. However, Warner Bros. are keen to bring both the stars on board to reprise their characters, and are hoping to resolve the differences, very soon.

In an interview with EW Radio on Sirius XM, Watson was asked whether she'd ever play Hermione Granger again in a movie. Her answer was pretty simple: Definitely nothing planned at the moment. She said she didn't want to get anyone's hopes up but said we should ask her again in 10 years.
Now obviously this isn't the answer fans want to hear but it certainly isn't a no, right? You also can't blame Watson for wanting to take a break.

She played Hermione in eight movies, which spanned over a decade of her life. In fact, it actually hasn't even been that long since she last played her;
Watson, of course, knew this answer wasn't going to make people happy and even poked fun a little at the reporter for asking the question. “You don't know what you’re doing, ” she warned. “You’re causing carnage.”
While Watson isn't sure if she wants to play her again she has made it clear that she is happy to see that Hermione is living on in
Harry Potter': Emma Watson Was Super Confused When She Learned She'd Been Cast As Hermione
Watson says meeting Noma Dumezweni, who plays Hermione in the show and received backlash for taking on the role, was more emotional than she imagined it would be.
She came in and gave me a big and I burst into tears, Watson said. It was so emotional to me to know that Hermione was going to be okay. And that everything kind of worked out and what her future would look like.
For now, it's a future that doesn't include Watson but, as she said, ask her in 2027. Who knows, she may decide to take one last trip back to Hogwarts.

Emma Watson's Journey To Hermione Granger: How She Secured The Iconic Role
11-year-old Emma Watson plays the kind-hearted know-it-all Hermione Granger. Emma had only acted in school plays before she was cast in Harry Potter. In her free time, something she has much less of these days, Emma enjoys playing sports like hockey and rounders. Emma's cute and astute portrayal of Hermione has already become a favorite among fans.
Rupert Grint, who turns 13 this month, comes from a large family not unlike his on-screen kin. Grint plays Ron, the youngest son of the red-headed Weasley clan. Before Harry Potter, Rupert had acted in school plays and with a local drama group. He auditioned for the role of Ron after watching an appeal by the film's casting director on TV.
