Emma Watson Ezra Miller

There are just some casting rumors that fill you with a burst of joy as soon as your eyes catch and land on that unconfirmed wish, and this is definitely one of them. According to Variety, Ezra Miller is in talks to join Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them alongside Eddie Redmayne and Katherine Waterson. While Warner Bros. themselves had no comment on whether this rumor has any truth to it, I'm already fervently hoping and praying that the actor who is slated to play the Flash in an upcoming DC movie will also land a confirmed role in the magical world of Harry Potter — mostly because that would make both him and Perks of Being a Wallflower co-star Emma Watson both Harry Potter stars. If you don't consider that a good enough reason to cast Miller in this film, then I have no idea what to say to you.

The only way this rumor could get better is if Watson was going to be in the film as well, but, alas, she's a little too busy being Emma Watson these days. And, anyway, her Harry Potter character, Hermione Granger, has yet to be born at the time that this film takes place. Still, even if Watson and Miller aren't about the reunite in the world that made Watson famous, there's still a lot that the actor can learn from her about how to navigate the magical world of Harry Potter.

Emma

It's not as though Miller is a complete unknown in Hollywood, and the Flash will definitely do a lot to make him a household name, but nothing quite has the appeal of Harry Potter. I mean, really, is there any Harry Potter actor who isn't still known as a Harry Potter actor first and a whatever-they're-doing-now second?

Not only did Watson seriously consider leaving the films early to attend college, but she's also chosen roles, and used the fame of Harry Potter to represent various platforms, that make her status as a Harry Potter actress one of many things she's known for these days. Just because Miller blows up thanks to Harry Potter doesn't mean the film series is going to haunt him for the rest of his life. Life goes on, and that level of fame can be used as a weapon.

Watson, like Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and, OK, the whole cast, all burst into tears at the wrap part of the final Harry Potter movie. Of course, we watched the main trio grow up across the eight films, so this was her entire childhood she was saying goodbye to. Miller won't have those exact emotional ties, but I'm sure the movie will become so important to him, especially if he's in more than one of them, that crying when they're over will just be a given.

Sorry, but the best fans in the world are actually Harry Potter fans. Sure, we might have a heart attack over an almost decades old 'ship war every now and then, but, generally, we're really very supportive.

Ezra Miller Got Advice From Emma Watson For 'fantastic Beasts'

Rowling is a supportive mother figure to all of the Harry Potter actors, even if that means that, sometimes, she's going to do the world a disservice by telling Matthew Lewis to put his clothes back on.

It's a right of passage to steal things from the Harry Potter set. Someone ask Daniel Radcliffe how many wands he took home with him. You know, after breaking almost a hundred of them by using them as drumsticks between takes.

Sorry, I had to. But, no, really, I hope that Miller does find himself being cast in the upcoming Harry Potter film, if only because I want him to call Watson up and ask her for some tips and tricks on properly portraying a wizard. And because he's insanely talented, and would really help bring this new-old world to life.

Emma was the first person I called, Miller said with a laugh, during a recent New York press conference. I think, usually, if you know someone who has worked with anyone who you are about to work with, it seems rational to check in and find out what you are plunging into. And, fortunately, when I called Emma, I was given good news. She told me what a magical experience it was for her. ...

But, particularly, she tried to prepare me for the wonder of [director] David Yates and help me understand, he continued. I asked her.... I was like, 'Yeah, I met him and he seems so kind and calm, but when you start shooting that must all fall apart and he's yelling at department heads to get the job done, right?' And she was like, 'Actually, Ezra, no, he will remain that calm through the entire production.' Which is true and an amazing thing.
